Church Life: Volunteering
A church is centered on the community that gathers together in worship for God. We could not run a Parish the size of St Joseph's without an army of volunteers who give their time to a variety of tasks that need to be done on a weekly basis. St Joseph's is able to offer so many activities and sacramental programmes through the hard work and stewardship of so many individual volunteers. Below is a list of some of the things you can get involved in. If you are interested in helping with any of these, then please contact the parish office.
Volunteers make St Joseph's
Here is what some of our volunteers get up to:
- There are a great number of dedicated volunteers that meet to pray, discuss and put into action formational programmes, liturgical ministries, finance and property management, children and youth activities and much more.
- There is a team which counts up and bags the offerings and collections every Sunday evening;
- Another team checks and banks the offerings and other income every week;
- There are other volunteers who keep the Parish books and accounts, help in the office, clean the church, mow the lawn and look after the garden, wash the altar linen and repair vestments, run the repository and the Traidcraft shop and help in other ways.

Readers
Readers are to minister to the community by proclaiming the Word of God reverently and clearly at liturgical celebrations. They take turns as per rota and also lead people in prayer at the Intercessions. There are reading courses for people to attend.
Welcoming
This is an important Ministry to welcome all Parishioners and Visitors who attend our liturgies. They greet people, issue our weekly Newsletter and other Papers, and answer any queries.
Please contact us if you would like to find out how to volunteer in the Parish.
